Manga necrophilia

Been reading this manga online called Sankarea, and the theme is starting to freak me out a little. I'm used to Japanese manga pushing the boundaries of taboo subjects, but necrophilia is one which has only appeared in underground materials. To see it in a normal rated manga was an eye raiser. Maybe its all due to L4D 1 and 2, or maybe the Japanese are just... Japanese.

Down the Rabbit-Hole

There are only that many movies adaptions that made me want to reach for the original book, most of them just made me want to reach for the director's neck in a classic strangle hold. Fortunately, I would not be reaching for Tim Burton this time, Alice was great.

I've never read the original work, only the kiddy version as a kiddy, but the impression I had about it was a mad world loaded with hidden meanings and innuendos. While the movie wasn't all that mad, it was believable, it was as though wonderland was somehow possible and just waiting for the viewer to fall into. The subtle, cryptic imagery and dialog is enough to keep those who like to find hidden meaning in everything glued to the screen, while not blatant enough to distract the eyes glued to Mia Wasikowska's chest.

Johnny Depp was excellent, though if I haven't seen the interview before hand, I would have been clueless that he was trying to do a mercury poison impression (not that its a bad one, just not familiar with the effects of heavy metals if it was not applied with force on the head)

Two thumbs up, worth the ticket.

I thought I saw a bad MV.... I did! I did! I did saw a bad MV!

While MTV denies banning Lady Gaga's latest music video "Telephone", the first minute into the video, I was already wishing they had. It wasn't watching Lady Gaga banging her man piece into prison bars right at the screen that got to me (nice try Lady Gaga, we all know you can digitally hide anything on screen now), it was how much it all reminded me of really low budget XXX movies, without the good bits.

3 minutes in it started to look like a film student's bad parody of Thelma & Louise, all that was wrapped up with scenes from what I can only describe as attention w****s dancing on youtube. If Lady Gaga was trying to show just how low she could go, she has set a new world record with this one.

Maybe I'm just getting old, maybe I'm just a stick in the mud who just can't get it... Nay it's the video.

The litany against poverty

I love money.
Money makes the world go round.
Money is the root of all good.
I earn money easily.
I will permit it to come to me quickly and effortlessly.
And when it comes to me I will double it.
Where the money comes more will come after.
Only more money comes.
